Why we chose this
Robot vacuums have always traded the labor of vacuuming for the labor of maintaining the robot. The S8 Pro Ultra is the first one we've tested where that math actually works out in your favor — empty the dock weekly, refill once a month, and the floor stays clean. That's the whole pitch, and it finally lands.
The review
The S8 Pro Ultra is the first robot vacuum where the dock isn't an afterthought. The dock empties the dustbin, washes the mop pads with hot water, dries them with warm air, and refills the cleaning water reservoir — meaning the only thing you do is dump the dirty water tank once a week. The robot itself uses LiDAR + structured-light obstacle avoidance (it dodges socks and cables reliably, which used to be the boast that didn't hold up), 6000Pa suction handles thick rugs without complaint, and the dual-pad mopping with 200rpm rotation actually scrubs floors rather than smearing them. Mapping is multi-floor with no-mop zones, and the floor type is detected automatically so it lifts the mops over carpet. We've owned three robot vacuums, and the S8 Pro Ultra is the first one where the dock genuinely does what's advertised without weekly intervention.
