Ember Travel Mug 2+ — image 1

Why we chose this

We've been using the original Ember mug for four years, and the 2+ fixes both of our long-running complaints: the lid actually holds, and the mug shows up in Find My when (not if) we leave it somewhere. For people whose coffee gets cold on a commute, this is the most quality-of-life money you can spend.

The review

Ember's heated mug is the kind of niche product that's easy to roll your eyes at until you use one. The 2+ adds Find My integration (so it stops getting left at coffee shops), a slightly larger 12oz capacity, and a redesigned silicone base that actually grips dashboards and cup holders without sliding. The core trick remains: set your target temperature in the app, and the mug holds your coffee within a degree of that target for about three hours. The leak-resistant lid is the part that matters for travel — the previous gen was technically leak-proof but spilled if you knocked it sideways, and the new lid uses a magnetic seal that holds through inversions. Battery is integrated into the base; charging is a quiet magnetic puck. It's a luxury item for sure, but it's the kind of luxury that earns its keep every single morning.
